We've had an Android app in the app store for about 3 years, and we're seeing that the current install base is pretty fragmented.

Not only is adoption of new versions somewhat slow (although it's gotten better since 4.x), we have a huge number of users on versions that are several updates old. After we dropped support for Android older than 4.x, we got about half the users to upgrade, and half seem to be stuck on the old 2.x version. This is despite the statistics showing that 88% of users are on Android 4.x. Not to mention that are users still on even older versions, according to the developer console.

Are you all seeing similar numbers? Are the "current installs" statistics trustworthy?
