Is Intel Edison for the independant too?

In response to a question I asked a reporter, below is Intel's response. The question was whether dev kits for the Edison, a tiny Atom computer for wearables and the internet of things, would be available to the independent inventor/developer and not just to big companies with volume potential. ------

To answer your question, yes, Edison was conceived for the independent inventor as well. Intel has an open OS approach and will rely on the open source support community to build upon our baseline. This allows companies like Don’s to invent with as little constraints as possible and ideally keep support costs to a minimum.

Hope that helps!
