I think if something is built near you that materially lowers the quality of your life, being angry about it is not NIMBYism

I personally think NIMBYism is more along the lines of "this doesn't negatively impact my day to day life, but I'm worried it will lower my property value"

I think that might be an uncommon definition, but language is fluid so who knows
