Beware, this used to install some sketchy launchd daemons on macOS that ran as root. I don't remember the details, but look into `/Library/LaunchDaemons` and `/Library/LaunchAgents`.

at this point I would call this project zombified, I imagine that each new dev (or group of devs) keep degrading the code quality and experience on each new iteration..
