Are they trying to turn GitHub into LinkedIn?

With the new feed fiasco and now this, my feet are getting ready to run



Well, they definitely missed the opportunity a while ago to make GitHub relevant for hiring, and now they are trying to catch back up I guess.


Platforms don't have to have ever expanding offerings. They could stay focused on core competencies and make their themneven better

I generally agree, but it's actually kind of weird how little GitHub matters for SWE hiring, if you think about it.

Certifications are a gamed system already, see LinkedIn... this will make GH less reliable for vetting in the long run. They are really only good for breaking into a field (new hire like), but it's like looking at a college transcript. Sure you passed the tests, but what did you learn?
