I don't have a iPhone but this makes a lot of sense. Would tell you if this is being misused.

Being able to track a burger back to the cow it came from would be helpful in preventing food related illnesses. Rather than throwing all of it away you might be able to pick specific packages from specific cows and limit food waste. Could do the same with produce and only throw away the lettuce that was on the side of the field that had the E. Coli outbreak.
