Hello, I’m the developer behind Saltie. I’m happy answer any questions.
Last December, I left the b2b saas company I co-founded to work on an app to help my wife and I manage our 6 year old’s T1D and food allergies. Before this, we were using paper logs to keep track of his diet and how much insulin we were giving him, however the high cognitive load and constant second-guessing was burning us out. Saltie has made it easier for us to meal plan and make diabetes-related decisions, and make those decisions with less second-guessing.
Bigger picture, I believe that by making it easier for people to enter high quality data, and by having a dataset of high quality glucose/insulin/exercise/nutritional records, that should allow for a high quality AI that can accurately predict what any particular meal will do to your glucose and the optimal way to bolus for it. There are a number of clinical studies aimed at improving our understanding of how blood glucose levels work in people with diabetes, but most say something along the lines of “more investigation is needed”. Beyond helping others in a similar boat, an important measure of success for Saltie would be its use in a clinical study.
I’m looking for beta testers to try it out, so if you know anybody with T1D - in particular, parents of kids with T1D - please let them know. Thank you!
