I would like to ask you for recommendations on software or solutions for monitoring 3rd party service dependencies in your applications.

Recently, I came across a problem when one of our service providers had constant issues with stability and we were unable to identify the problem due to a lack of monitoring and alerting. The outages impacted our users and I'm looking for a way how to automate the monitoring.
