My college did a school wide seminar on RSVP. I remember we did a before and after reading speed test where the presenter had everyone raise thier hand and then lower it as he read said thier reading speed. I was in one the earlier batches of people to put thier hand down (the slowest readers)
After the RSVP training we checked improvement. I was also in the slowest batch. By myself. It turns out that if you have certain underlying learning disabilities then RSVP is ineffective. Huge let down, because I love reading and would love to read substantially faster.
Moral of the story- RSVP works for many, does not for a few, but don't get discouraged because I'm still happy and successful in my own terms.
