Apple does though design its own GPUs. So it is not a far stretched idea that they might someday ship a GPU with dedicated RT hardware.

Hmm, I would argue that the amount of investment into the GPU space by Apple almost ensures that they will replace both AMD and Intel at some point.
Probably first in the thinnest of Macbooks as a way to test the waters and buy some more time.
