Agreed. There are proxies which defeat detectors. If i were a fraudster i'd use those. So all you're doing is losing real customers.

Can you name some?

There are so called "residential proxies" that use a IP from some normal consumer ISP connection, not some datacenter IP. However there are services that can detect such residentials too, e.g. https://focsec.com/

I run several mailservers but my main email addresses go to fastmail.

the OP wants "low-maintenance". that's fastmail, it just works.

I ran with protonmail too for a while, it's good, but costs about the same as FM. Unless all your friends are on proton it will go out decrypted anyhow, so not so much advantage. proton worked with the bridge to my regular email client. it worked, but clunky. My main gripe with proton is they only let you have one domain for the standard deal.

FM let's you have many. This is exactly what i want. Providing i keep within the overall limits I've paid for, i can't see why i can't have multiple domains with providers.

my owns servers often have email bounced back. outlook.com and yahoo are notoriously bad. Microsoft actually operate a whitelist you have to get on, which is nasty. gmail also bounces sometimes.

So these are for side projects. not for real work.

another big+ for FM is you can connect over port 80 via their proxy. my VPN blocks outgoing email which is a PITA, but it works with FM in this way. That was really nice to have working again.

This is impressive, I'm going to start using this. I know that the wish list must be long, but I'd really like to see things that i CANT do in other editors, such as PS;

(1) PS (the version i have anyhow) does not support PNG8 with 8bit alpha. This annoys me a LOT because i have to use another program to generate these from PNG24 for all my web work. why doesn't PS support this format?? PP to have this please!

(2) Sometimes i want to quickly add some markup to an image. arrows, callouts, etc. This is a PITA with PS because it's just TOO complicated. A "simple editing" page would be cool.

(3) I do a lot of work with APNG (animated PNG) now, which appear to work in most browsers. most editors won't touch APNG. PP will load and generates each frame as a layer. would be nice to see the frame boxes and edit/move them, then recombine. would save a TON of work with APNG authoring.

(4) edit JPG/PNG metadata please.

blue sky stuff: i "waste" a lot of time in PS extracting items from images. I know this is HARD, but any help here would be a massive boost and worthy of payment. same goes for "unblurring" as alternative to sharpening. i know this is technically impossible, but it might be possible to help fix camera shake a LITTLE BIT, knowing it's shake and not just random blur, etc.

my 2c, but good luck with it!

Hi,

(1) Photopea supports ALL PNG images. It can export palletted PNGs with 8 bit alpha (which PS can not for some reason).

(2) Custom Shape tool can do it in Photopea.

(3) Photopea can load APNG (or GIF) and save it back to APNG (or GIF). I.e. you can use PP for editing animations. See more here: https://www.photopea.com/learn/animations

You can suggest and discuss new features here: https://github.com/photopea/photopea/issues

and JPEG option to use arithmetic encoding. The patent expired YEARS ago and is saves 10-20% of the size. for some reason people still aren't using this option for JPEG (compatibility mostly).

and a button that says; map this image into sRGB and discard the color profile. please!!

nice idea. I'll use that in the blog!

Hi everyone, Strand here; We're BAKING the tapes now. check it out. https://strandgames.com/blog/tk50-tape-baking

A while back i wanted to write my own calendar to support custom recurrence rules, as well as the usual ones you always get. Custom rules would include things like calculation of Easter and other holidays and events that move about like moon phases.

So the idea was to build a translator that turns something like iCal into a "program". and if you're a hacker, you can write directly in this program :-)

I chose LUA for this because it's compact and sufficient for this requirement.

The other thing i wanted is to be able to write a date and/or a time as words on the end of any event and have the calendar figure it out for. There are so many times that i want to specify, for example, a relative event.

I might extend a cloud payment for 6 months. so i type cloud XYZ expires, 1 day before 6 months from today.

and things like: Radisson Hotel, May 27th at 2pm for 3 nights.

Also then terms like "Easter" and "xmas" can be part of the word parser. And stuff just like "beer friday with Pete."

One thing i still need to do is have it set up recurrences automatically for stuff like "Dave's Birthday, next Friday". So it puts in in the calendar, and adds annual recurrence automatically. would be nice.

I'm thinking of open sourcing what i have.

Hi, i have a similar app, which is free. I see that your app needs access to the Android contacts and calendar. I didn't want that for mine. I wanted something totally independent, secure and encrypted - but also sync across platforms including desktop.

I like to be able to make notes and calendar entries whilst I'm at my desk, then take them with me. I don't want to access my private notes from within a browse.

You can promote your app in the comments without being a jerk. You know that, right?

It does, because that's a requirement for managing those seamlessly, through the existing contacts/calendar apps. Anyhow, it's open source and all the networking code is very self contained (so it'd be easy to review) so it's easy to verify the security.

I think we were striving for a similar result, but have different requirements, for example you with the permissions, and me with the app being open source.

As for EteSync: desktop support is planned.

i think this is bad news. "We will ask new developers to complete a set of digital paperwork, personal or company verification, and tax documents similar to the process of applying for a bank account."

It's all about control and stopping real indie development. "low as $100 to as high as $5,000." That's _per title_ ! and it will whatever they can get away with. $5000 to publish a game is not indie anymore.

Valve aren't looking to make money here (well, obviously they are, but not directly from this like you are implying). $5k a game means literally nothing to them - the amount they make from sales makes that a joke.

This is a matter of competing pressures. We want indies to be able to publish as easily as possible, but customers don't want to see lots of bad games.

The easier you make it for indies, the easier you make it for people pushing out crap. This is clearly a response to people's complaints about the lowering quality of the average content in the Steam store, after their attempts at providing better game discovery methods and curation systems haven't solved the issue.

point taken. but it need not be solved by increasing the barrier to entry. instead it's a ranking problem; make the poor titles sink to the bottom.

Does the rest of the UK also get a vote to leave Scotland?

I used clouds to store files and my own app to store notes and calendars. Im thinking of open sourcing my app for the benefit of others. http://lexiy.com
