And this post citing the obvious gets upvoted to the main page and the app ecosystem for touchless user interfaces i built over 2 years and posted to HN at the same time gets unoticed. Lame.

It's immoral that governments take poeples money and use it for intents orthogonal to those original people intents, e.g. war, subsidies to monopolies such as the oil industry, corruption, etc.

Google on the other hand provides a great services for free and acessible to everyone. I would prefer my taxes to go to google; and if they would become government they would be much more efficient than any government out there.

By the way google if you want a toy country to try stuff, try Portugal. This goverment could use some help and they are some nice people who support the private initiative.

Politicy makers are dumb. They took ages to resolve an issue such as availability to choose the default browser on an operating system, yet, in their closed world of waiting for their retirement checks, they, and their fault of ideals in their confortable sofas do no address the :

simple issue of hardware and operating system separation.

Because responsible citizens should be making those decisions, not "policy makers".

Unfortunately, in market-driven cases like this the decisions are being made by the middle of the bell curve. And we know what that means:

Normally i contact the authors of GPL code and ask them nicely to move to LGPL. It has been working so far.

The most boring presentation ever. He is like, so i created google, so i don't have to make an effort to show excitement in my new product, that's for the marketing and sales.

No onstage demo, jizuz i always present my stuff live ! that's where the emotions are.

Personally, I'm fine with people not showing excitement and just being themselves. And I actually liked this presentation; seemed very honest and genuine.

I don't get all the development... so is this like an html5 player ? linux + some webkit ? what's the novelty ?

Again a bunch of developers working for free on Samsung (20% of SK GDP) plan C mobile phone OS ?

It seems they are moving Bada to Tizen.

The native SDK seems to be the former Bada C++ SDK, which is a brain dead idea as Bada C++ uses a C++ dialect similar to Symbian C++.

The novelty is in supporting native as well as HTML5 apps. So, it's a hybrid between Firefox OS and Android/iOS on the other. I'm only unsure if it is novelty worth having.

If the guy that invented sms patented 140 char messages there would be no twitter. Or irc messages, or smoke signals, or X where one people sends a text message to others. Patents are a bureocratic perversion that do not acomplish any progress to humanity, they just perpetuate the bureocratic system itself.

Many of these humans are caught within a system which incentivizes personal interests over those of society. Those in higher power are aware of this, but too cowardly to do anything about it, sadly, and the lower amongst us are forced to at least protect themselves from a broken system. But the thing is, the more they protect themselves, the more this corrupt system becomes reinforced and innovation becomes even more endangered. We need to wake up and say enough is enough already. Do we really want this paralyzing system to dictate us and future humanity?

There is always a choice.

What good is a choice when they've got a gun to your head? Do most of us have to die before we finally get it?

A gun...over patents? I think you may be diluting the topic for some reason.

I'm not diluting nothing. Patents shoot down competition.

Google closing reader was probably something to do with the French un-digital papers that wanted the interwebs going to their website-o-pages to read content there.

The only crime here is the judges act to take life time of someone that caused no harm.
