I've been a GitHub user since the very early days. I had a beta invite to the service. I really wish they didn't swap out the FE for a React FE.

They need to start rolling back some of their most recent changes.

I mean, if they want people to start moving to self hosted GitLab, this is gonna get that ball rolling.

GitLab is slower for me than that React GH app. Why would I move to GitLab?

Was this a local/on prem version of GL or the hosted web version?

My previous org had an on prem version hosted on a local VM. It was extremely fast, we setup another VM for the runners, and one for storing all the docker containers. The thing I’ve seen people do it use the VM they put their gitlab instance on for everything and ends up bogging things down quite a bit.

I work in the payments industry. Just do everything in cents and divide by 100. Makes your life a lot easier.

I’ve been using vim and now neovim for 15 years. Before that I was using TextMate. I’ve hand written my own config. I used Janus by Carlhuda, SolarVim, and now I’m on lazyvim because Folke is a goddamn wizard and I want to spend more time getting work done that dealing with breakage in my neovim config

I was honestly surprised the University of Minnesota didn’t part ways with the teacher and students who performed this bullshit research.

This level of malfeasance strikes me as something akin to plagiarism for a professional writer.

This is retroactive ass covering by the UMN IRB.

I wondered when Apple was going to do this. Seemed inevitable when Final Cut Pro on the iPad had a subscription, I think.

I hope I can still use the non subscription version of Pixelmator pro I bought

This rebrand will be liked less than when Gap, Cracker Barrel and Jaguar introduced new logos.

At this rate I wouldn’t put it past MSFT to rename the company and all products Copilot. Just Copilot.

Facebook renaming itself to Meta Platforms wasn't any better.

This looks fairly cool. If I had the production need for this, I’d definitely consider this.

I paired with Claude and simply added nats.c to the zig buildup system for my zig project at work. It works like a charm.

have you tried using pi-hole or adblock plus running on a raspberry pi on your network?

whenever i'm off my home wifi network, i have wireguard configured to connect home and get me that ad blocking. it's so nice.

yes, i prefer to use brave for personal stuff and i use edge for work stuff (reasons,,, don't ask)

It's definitely better than nothing, and greatly improves things, but UBO is better. Try watching a youtube video in a browser with UBO, and the android app on a network with pi-hole, etc.

I ran AdGuard Home for a while but it was causing too many problems for everyone else at home so I stopped.

These days I’m using AdGuard on iOS and ublock origin with Firefox on everything else.

It took me a long time to get the allow lists dialed in, but I think it was still worth it. My wife may disagree since she was the most common victim.

It amazes me that every link the kid's school sends is a tracking link, and not always the same tracker.

Wow. This is an incredible article that tracks just about everything I’ve done with the web over the past 30 years. I started with BbEdit and Adobe PageMill, then went to dreamweaver for Lamp.
