How does one find out what stocks each Rep owns?

See https://www.investopedia.com/how-to-find-lawmaker-investment... for the official disclosure portals, as well as some unofficial trackers.

They have to fill out a disclosure form, but it's on a 30 day delay, often more because they file late.

Be wary of all the third party congressional stock trackers for this reason.

Unusual Whales keeps track of Congressional disclosures and even built ETFs around each party’s picks: https://unusualwhales.com/politics

It’s absolutely disgusting that this sort of Insider Trading has been allowed to continue unchecked, and a significant contributor to the normalization of American corruption and its associated regulatory capture.

By the time you factor in the information you're too late.

Ask one of them to lunch, slip them an envelope.

Personally, the argument for strong types is when you’re writing critical foreseeably permanent architecture. It’s an extra layer of security and explanation.

For me, a sensible use of types helps reducing cognitive load during development.

It also help with autocomplete and linting.

Did not expect to see this here. But I have been looking forward to this book for a while. I’m a big fan of William Darlymple. The Anarchy is my favorite of his.

I picked it up from the title alone because I was on a medieval history kick and I unreasonably expected it to be about... "The Anarchy"... you know, the period of history that actually goes by that name... but no. I was surprised and disappointed to find it was about The East India Company which I didn't have much of a hankering after. I still feel cheated!

And still, it’s one of the greatest works of popular history ever written.

Never will I forget the $2 falafel

Thanks for introducing me to quite a few different topics.

I see you have studied the human as well! Now do religion ;)

Excellent examples. Very similar projects in Barcelona as well.

At the very least, Spain taxes a house for being empty and that revenue is recycled into free healthcare.

Source on this? Been living in Spain for 8 years now, and my wifes family have a number of empty of apartments here. AFAIK, they do not pay tax on any of them for being empty.

IMO that is one of things they can do to address the housing issue we have but I have seen no mention of this policy anywhere.

> my wifes family have a number of empty of apartments

Why? Is it just seen as a good investment?

My wife grandfather bought them as an investment and after he died, the grandmother inherited them. She couldn’t care less about them as investments, but I guess my in laws are waiting to inherit them and then sell them off.

> At the very least, Spain taxes a house for being empty and that revenue is recycled into free healthcare

You described the healthcare as free in the exact same sentence where you identified who pays for it.

I think socialized healthcare is the correct term.

This pedantic objection is silly. First of all, nobody (well, no adult) is going to think that free means that it didn't cost anything -- there is no manipulation going on. But secondly, I would argue that the word doesn't mean what you are implying. If a bar offers you a free beer, would you also object that it was in fact paid for by someone? What would ever be "free", by your definition? Weather?

I find Brainscape to be the nicest overall app. Free to use. Tons of existing content. Mobile and web friendly.
