I believe you, It think I'm also the same; however for me at least, I feel like I can "think" of what something looks like. This is hard to explain since its very "personal" way its easier to say "i can see a square" nope I can't see anything but I can "think" of a square.
The whole imagine a ball in your mind. Now tell me what colour it is. No idea you tell me :D I can pretend and make up a color or go with what my gut tells me which is the most common color my brain was probably trained on.(red). but in reality I don't see any ball.
I'll 2nd this; Obsidian has a new core feature being beta tested called "base" it allows for filtering on properties and other attributes of notes into a table type view, allowing display and editing of those properties in the "base" view. This is a huge step forward for a lot of users wanting to make the jump off of Notion.
I wish we could go back; A lot of googles UI/UX is based on the next billion users experiences. I'm unsure how much influence this has on a day to day design choices they make. My experience right now on a 1440p monitor is 5 visible videos, 2 video ads, a ton of tags that I can't turn off for finding videos.
There are a ton of great UI/UX choices they've done over the years too; I just wish we had more options as a users.
I've done this around the same time and agree. Now google is used as a service (Firebase for example). The only thing I haven't been able to effectively shake off is their Calendar. I know lots of other options are available the issue is connectivity with others.
I'll just leave this idea out there, but https://obsidian.md/ now allows for in app, opening of links, which lets you have your notes + apps all in one place. Depending on what you're doing that workflow can be a huge boost.
