How are they objectively better? They seem way too complex for me


Qtile Dev here (jwijenbergh on GitHub). We just rewrote the Wayland backend in C and will do a new release hopefully this weekend. Feedback welcome!

Why not `git archive`?


Because I didn't know about it.

Although if I look at its documentation, it's already a somewhat complicate invocation with unclear effects (lots of commandline options). Git seems to not be able to do KISS.

git ls-files and tar is a simple thing everybody understands and can do without much issues.

Yeah that would be nice. Hopefully the author adds it. That makes the whole development flow with wlroots based compositors quite pleasant (although difficult still)
