Since 2015 I have taken over the technical leadership of three major cloud transformation projects at three different companies. I helped introducing devops and cloud native principles, specified the architecture, supported the team with evaluation decisions and implementation, coached and built the teams to operate their new cloud infrastructure.
Back in 2013 I started working with Docker and in 2015 with Kubernetes as an early adopter. I also have experience as a full stack developer.
I'm looking for projects where you are looking for a tech lead/cloud architect for your cloud transformation. Please let me know if this sounds interesting to you: georg@cloudgear.net

I'm either looking for a role where I can help building the company's cloud infrastructure or a role at a product company within the cloud/infrastructure area, especially with a focus on developer experience. I'm open for fulltime employment or contract work.
At https://www.kubebox.com we are working on affordable Kubernetes clusters for developers and personal usage. It's not as cheap as the mentioned solution but also comes with more memory and CPU power. Around $36 for 8GB and maybe less for just a 4GB node, not yet decided. Master is fully managed and hosted by us. What do you think?
Often personal projects are for learning new technologies and applying them in a meaningful way. E.g. many people want to run their personal projects on Kubernetes to play around with Kubernetes and understand how apps can be operated with it.
Well yeah, I'm sure the time/money will pay for itself when he's looking for a job. I know I look favorably at homelabbers during technical interviews and DIY is often the only time you can get exposure to $new_hotness at some jobs.
We are working on https://www.KubeBox.com to provide simple Kubernetes clusters for an affordable price.
For $36/month (8GB Ram, 2vCPU) you get a single node if you just want to have the Kubernetes APIs. Maybe introducing smaller node plans later in the year.
Unfortunately, not much info on our website but please sign up if you are interested.
We launched https://www.KubeBox.com beta today. You get a fully managed cluster, control plane and nodes. And you can start with a single node cluster with 8GB RAM and 2vCPU for $36/month. Additionally you can get Rancher auto-installed for managing projects, users, groups, permissions and workloads.
We are in early beta but if you are interested, please sign up and we will activate your account asap.
If you want to talk, we are at KubeCon Europe, contact @geku on Twitter.
Everybody who wants to run Rancher with zero initial setup can use our managed Kubernetes/Rancher service which we launched today: https://www.KubeBox.com
We are still in closed beta but if you are interested, please sign up and we will activate your account asap.
Personally, I think Rancher 2.0 is a fantastic add-on to any Kubernetes cluster for managing projects, users, groups, permissions and workloads and I would like to congratulate Rancher to their release.
