Location: Europe

Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: No

Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Jest, Node.js

Résumé/CV: https://cupofcode.be/cv.pdf

Email: hello at cupofcode dot be

I am a front-end developer with over 10 years of direct experience across multiple sectors. I specialise in building reliable, well-tested applications and websites.

My speciality skill-set and interest lies in TypeScript development, with modern HTML, CSS and ReactJS on the front-end. If required, I also have experience as a full stack developer with Node.js, but I much prefer a front-end only role.

I am immediately available to discuss ideas, projects and requirements.

Portrayal of Guilt is another band that lives somewhere between screamo and black metal, especially on their early releases.

If you liked the sound of Raein, there are some other suggestions I’d like to offer.

These are (were, sadly) all, like Raein (Italy), European screamo bands and while often named together with their American contemporaries (bands like City of Caterpillar, Circle Takes The Square, Neil Perry, …), I’ve always felt their sound is quite a bit different.

France: Daïtro, Sed Non Satiata, Aussitôt Mort, Belle Epoque, Amanda Woodward, Mihai Edrisch

Italy: Raein, La Quiete

Germany: Louise Cyphre, Tristan Tzara, Zann

I haven’t tried Remix, but I’ve seen the demos and read the docs. It looks promising but from what I’ve seen I think you can hardly call it the next Rails. The older I get, the more experienced I get, the more I think back of my Rails days as an amazing time. The framework had/has it all. I haven’t found anything that comes close to the developer experience and how easy and structured it is to work with.

Agreed, and as innovative as react was for web app development, I find myself hoping that something like Svelte takes off instead. Not having to deal with the virtual DOM, JSX, etc. is the next big barrier for app development IMO, it's just an unnecessary layer of complexity now that build tooling and browsers are catching up.

What's your take on Elixir/Phoenix?

and it just came out with a fairly significant update in the last few days too. exciting times, that

I had to look this up - DNT stands for "Do Not Track". More here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Not_Track_legislation

I knew what it meant but I still find it irritating when people are lazy about less than universally understood acronyms.

It excludes people from the discussion. HN is a broad church and we shouldn't assume too much domain knowledge beyond the obvious commonalities.

I have edited my post so that it includes "Do Not Track" instead of DNT in the first paragraph. Hope that will stop others from having to look it up.

That's very decent of you.

Presumably, it's also more specifically about the HTTP header for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Not_Track

On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

I read it at 18 and I wish I had read it way earlier. It taught me to be mad, to live life, to get out and see the world. But looking back at it, it also taught me how to be responsible and how to not to be a jerk.

It, above all, showed me what beautiful writing is.
