I was about to use gRPC, but forget that non-browser-supporting non-human-readable dumpster fire.

Also it looks significantly less complicated than open api/swagger. for starters, openapi/swagger has 2 fkin names. lol.

You can use JSON as the serialization format for gRPC, so that's not really a great reason not to use it.

I would argue that GraphQL is a bigger competitor and much friendlier to web apps.

Very cool!

Do you have any ideas for how to document the tool well?

Thank you for the smile this brought to my face :). Really imaginative and cool tool.

Not yet, right now I just have a tutorial window that shows up the first time you use the code builder feature, and the videos on the home page. Open to suggestions!

how is this on the first page of hackernews?

It's hard to answer that without any idea of why you find its presence surprising.

What is the problem exactly?

Same here. Looking a bit deeper it seems the searches are only run against elasticsearch? Also, whats up with the dependencies... php and node? why?

fixed :)

There is a distinct possibility that the conversation was a chosen topic to try to get at the top of HN, so that we could all go and be consumed by the awesomeness that is Discourse without realizing we just got marketowned.

Pretty close to my sentiment with the uprise in "<blah blah blah> learn to code".

'Code' is just logic. Its not hard to learn. What is hard to learn is how to translate ideas into a programming language, or better yet, into a <i>system</i>.

C0d1ng 15 3Z, designing and developing a system to efficiently and effectively perform a task is hard.

The author went to one of the coding bootcamps, so that's the context for this article. I haven't been to one, but I doubt they have time to get into computer science so much as coding.

not a chance in hell. Moreover, if I was paul Graham, the last thing I'd want is people who are paying to email me, have their emails plague the top of my inbox.

Woah! Super cool idea. So many ways you can take this to a new level. Also, if anyone is looking to contribute to some open source, this would be a great opportunity as there is lots of epic optimization problems in this algorithm to work on.

For example, whats the fastest data structure/algorithm to make searching for neighbours?

I'd guess some type of BSP tree. I agree, it looks fun to work on, see how massive of a simulation you could run in real time.

Do the right thing. Are they a massive company who wont notice a missing playstation? Sure. Is it morally okay? Not in the slightest. You are effectively stealing unless you send it in. You shouldn't take advantage of good customer service.
