... Use Google docs.

True, but the formatting options aren't very good. I know, I'm picky, but it just doesn't cut it. It works, but isn't perfect.

These people are idiots. 2300 college students interviewed... Think about that for 1 minute. That's a sample of less then 10% the size of my university. There are hundreds or even thousands of schools with over 10,000 students.

Where has this sample been taken? What colleges? How diverse was the population? Socio-economic statuses? These are all big concerns I have with this statistic. Also, what are they measuring? English? Maths? Sciences?

With all the high school emphasis on getting into college, I would not expect a serious improvement in the maths and English. If it's looking at general stuff, then yes, I would not expect a substantial shift, if we're talking about fields and careers then this is shocking data.

Given all that. I am a college junior, I have learned so much about math (calculus), science, computer science and how to solve problems. More so then I ever could have dreamed. College has opened me up to many new learning opportunities.

While the fault could be at the college, more then likely; however, it's on the student, not the school.

Statistically, you do not need a certain percentage of the population you are surveying to obtain good results. There are other factors used to determine the required sample size to achieve results with a given level of confidence. See the article below if you're interested in the details.

Common sense is no substitute for an intro stats class. 2300 is plenty.

Ditto on the mouse over, it's very annoying!

... This is totally stupid.

Issues; 1) Battery life 2) Heavy CPU/Memory Usage 3) Decreased device life (due to heavy usage) 4) Potential of overheating -- heavy usage combined with no fans 5) Most smart phones don't support it 6) Most phones have small storage capacity 7) Who wants their company running all their stuff on their phone then having to switch to a different VM to use your phone?

Companies stop being cheap and just give the staff that need it a phone with remote wipe just encase. Problem solved.

I think this is brilliant... but only if engineered correctly. Why carry around two devices: personal and work? If you have the need for a work phone with remote wipe, you'd be stuck carrying around two different phones. I'd much rather have one physical device, but then a second virtual phone built-in with a different number, address book, and possibly apps. Battery life/CPU/memory usage should be the same as any smart phone. There are no moving parts in a phone, so you wouldn't have a problem with life or overheating.

I think that you're thinking about this in the wrong way... this is a first step towards a good goal: minimizing the stuff you have to carry in your pocket. Your personal phone would be the primary phone. But then a managed "work" phone would be the virtual one. Your company would be in complete control over the virtual phone, but you could still have your personal email, apps, etc...

This also could solve the problem of the employee who wants an iPhone, but their company has standardized on BlackBerries.

As much as I love Opensource, projects need to see the writing on the wall. Companies WILL profit off of your "free" project, you have two options.

1) Accept it and live with it or 2) Change your licensing. Eg, if used to beyond personal use x y fee will be incurred for usage of the software. Free for personal, small business & non-profit but everyone else you better pay up.

There's a difference between being frustrated with other companies making a profit, other companies not contributing and other companies getting a free ride.
